Modifying a Zarges K470 Aluminum Case

A customer recently asked us to modify a Zarges K470 case to include locking latches, interior padding, and a storage pouch under the lid for tools and other loose items. Below are some notes and images detailing what we did, in case (ha, pun intended) you’re interested in doing the same yourself. If you need any help locating the parts for this type of modification please contact us. Of course, we’re happy to do the work for you and send a modified, completed case to you if you’d prefer us to do the work.

The folding tool carrier from Zarges comes with mounting clips and drilling template. Align the lower edge of the template with the bottom of the lid at the hinge and center.

After the holes are drilled use pop rivets to secure the retaining clips to the interior of the lid. Rivet from the outside of the lid.

The latch locks from Zarges are very easy to install and come with all necessary hardware. Simply remove the plastic cover on the latch and insert lock in its place. A strong spring clip holds the lock in place on the latch.
